Southeast of Hyde Park is Victoria, and possibly the most famous building in England: Buckingham Palace. Just to the east of Victoria lies Westminster, London's political centre, with the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Also close by is Westminster Cathedral, whose spires, together with the pods of the London Eye on the south bank of the Thames, are often visible between the high buildings. Small, practical shops and a few good restaurants cater for the area's many office workers. The principally mid-twentieth century architecture is interspersed with contemporary buildings or Georgian and Victorian terraced streets.
Pimlico tube station is only a couple of minutes walk away and this gives access to the Victoria line. Approximately 10 minutes walk away is Victoria train station and Victoria coach station.
